Would going solar ruin my roof warranty?
Depending on the terms of the workmanship warranty and the solar solution of choice, you, your installer, or their representative (like Solar Penguins) will need to contact your roofing company and go over the terms of installation so that your roof warranty is not voided following solar installation. Notably, most solar installers provide a workmanship warranty, which usually extends past the roofing warranty
Should I replace my roof before going solar?
Depending on the level of roof-degradation, a replacement may be needed prior to solar installation. In that case, we would gladly help set you up with our partnered roofers, prior to initiating your solar project. Our partners can either work with your current insurance provider, or help you tackle your roofing project directly depending on your preference
How long should I wait until my system is installed?
From the date of project initiation to your install date, it will take 4 – 6 weeks for residential projects, and varying lead times for commercial projects based on size of the project, zoning regulations, and logistics
How long should I wait until my system is activated?
From date of install, and depending on your utility provider, it takes between 2 – 5 weeks to receive permission to operate for your system assuming normal circumstances
How often should I maintain my solar panels?
For most solar panel systems in the Mid-Atlantic, a professional maintenance inspection is recommended every 1 to 2 years, while homeowners should visually check the system a few times per year and monitor production monthly. Additionally, the panels should be ideally cleaned twice a year for maximum production output
